Glad to be back in Arizona. On the plus side: the temperature in The Valley (aka Phoenix) is to be 74 degrees today. On the minus side: the weather qualities just below hazardous– not the best for someone like me, who has a couple of lung issues from an early childhood fungal infection, which scarred my lungs.

We loved visiting our kids and grandkids in Michigan and Ohio. That was, of course, the plus side. On the minus side, the temperatures ranged from -3 all the way up to a balmy 15 degrees.

My husband and I flew from Arizona into full on winter in the Midwest but the pull of the grandchildren remains strong.  Happy New Year to all!

People have various ways was to mark the end of summer. I know there’s the official solstice, but I will call today the end because the loons are long gone and our high temperature fell from the 70s to 49 degrees. It’s raining and sure doesn’t invite one outdoors.

With the crazy heat wave in Michigan – we thought we’d show how Suzanne spent the end of her summer – as “The Antiquated Airplane Retrieval System of Six Mile Lake.”

Husband, dog and I arrived safely back in my hometown Saturday, after experiencing:

a freeway closed because of dust storms

lots of rain,

two roads closed because of damaged bridges, and

many, very long construction zones.

Yesterday (Saturday 11/26/16) the high was 69 degrees in our winter home of Sierra Vista, Arizona. Next Saturday (when I’m signed up for the outdoor Christmas on Main in Benson, Arizona), the projection is 44 degrees (!) and rain. Near as I can figure out, there’s neither a market for wet books nor an enticement to Arizona customers at that temperature even without rain.

What’s Happening??

As we ate lunch today, the rain and wind gusts started. It looked as if it were raining leaves. Next the hail started, kept up for a while, quit then started again. Finally the power went out. Eight hours later it’s still out.
